    How your interview works

About an hour, in as many sittings as you like. Nothing to prepare.

You'll get an email from Aaron with one file attached. Here's what to do with it.

Before you start (two minutes, recommended)

Turn off model training so your answers aren't used to train the AI:

    • ChatGPT: Settings → Data controls → turn off "Improve the model for everyone." With it off, your new conversations won't be used to train OpenAI's models.
    • Claude: Settings → Privacy → turn off "Help improve Claude." With it off, your new chats aren't used to train future models.
    • On a company account? Your company's settings apply. Business plans from both companies have their own data controls.

    Using ChatGPT or Claude

    01

Open the app and start a new chat.

    02

Attach the file from Aaron's email using the paperclip or + button.

    03

    Type: let's start the interview

    04

Answer in your own words. Short answers are fine, and rough numbers are fine. Type "pause" any time, then come back to the same chat later and it picks up where you left off. Type "skip" for anything you'd rather not answer.

    05

At the end it shows you a summary to approve, then gives you one file. Email it tohello@mcclonetech.com (if it won't attach, paste the text into the email). You see everything before it goes anywhere.

    Rather talk than type?

It works best as a real conversation, out loud, both ways. Easiest on your phone:

    01

Start the interview the normal way: attach the file and type let's start the interview

    02

Tap the voice button, the sound-wave icon next to the message box, and keep going out loud in the same chat.

    03

Switch back to typing any time. If the voice session ends, tap the voice button again in the same chat and you'll pick up where you left off.

Voice is built into the ChatGPT and Claude phone apps. At the end, the summary appears on screen so you can read it before anything is sent.

    Rather not use AI?

Reply to Aaron's email and ask for the question list. Answer in a document or right in the email. Skip anything you like.

    A few tips

    • A computer is easiest, but a phone works.
    • Never type passwords, account numbers, or Social Security numbers. The interview doesn't need them.
    • Your answers stay in your own account until you send them. How we handle your information →
